The Angels went above .500 for the first time in 394 days in a romp over the Indians to complete the three game sweep of Cleveland at home.
C.J. Wilson got the win, Hank Conger homered and Mike Trout watched J.B. Shuck make the catch of the game in Left Field.
The last time the Angels were above .500 they were in Cincinnati and it was opening day of the 2013 season. At the time the big story was that it was the first interleague contest on an opening day in baseball history. Little did we know then what a deep abyss it would be. But the Halos have climbed out of the pit of despair, they have 14 wins against 13 losses at the official 1/6th mark of the baseball season: 27 x 6 = 162 games, students. So they were one game over .500 for one-sixth of the year, if they play better than that they will be in great shape. They looked capable of it today.
After allowing a second-inning run, C.J. Wilson delivered a rare economical performance with some innings actually being completed on a single-digit number of pitches. Yes, CJ, aka "The Nibbler" was the zone-attacking hack-smacker today. He struck out eight and only allowed two hits and a walk in eight innings pitched.
